Ben Affleck Wanted to direct Justice League Film
Variety are reporting that Warner Bros. want Ben Affleck to direct their upcoming Justice League film.
However, in response, fellow newswire Deadline have run a story claiming that while Affleck and his representatives may take a meeting, he is unlikely to sign onto the project.
We previously reported that Will Beale (Castle, Gangster Squad) was on board to write the script, and that there would be a Batman franchise reboot to set that particular hero up for the ensemble film. Henry Cavill’s Superman, set to appear in Man Of Steel next year, will also be involved.
Whether or not Affleck will be interested in doing Justice League is yet to be seen, but it is worth noting that he told the Daily Record back in 2010 that, “the years of superhero are behind me,” having previously appeared in the Marvel film Daredevil.
The actor-turned-director’s latest film behind the camera (and in front of it too) is Argo, the ‘based on a true story’ tale of six Americans who are trapped in Iran.
He will also be playing a part in Terence Malick’s To The Wonder, as well as Brad Furman’s Runner, Runner, neither of which have solid release dates yet.
Argo is released on 12 October in the UK. You can watch the trailer here.
