Updates For Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit
After it was previously reported that Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit would be split into three instalments, rather than two, and that it would only get a limited release in the new 48fps format, two new updates have emerged surrounding the project.
Initially, the second film now has a title, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug. The final film in the trilogy will now take on the second episode’s previous title, The Hobbit: There And Back Again.
The first instalment will be named The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and is set to be released on 14 December 2012 in the UK.
The further two episodes have also now been given initial release dates, with part two scheduled to appear on 13 December 2013 and part three to emerge on 18 July 2014.
With this current release schedule, viewers will only have to wait seven months between the second and third films, allowing There And Back Again to slot into the summer blockbuster schedule.
