Skyfall Becomes UK’s Highest Ever Grossing Film
In a total of 40 days of release, the film has accumulated a staggering £94,277,612 to beat Avatar, the previous record holder, to the top spot.
Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli commented, “We’re overwhelmed with gratitude to the cinema-going audiences in the UK who have made Skyfall the highest-grossing film of all time. We are very proud of this film and thank everybody, especially Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes, who have contributed to its success.”
The film is also performing strongly internationally, taking a total of $869,712,819 to date, according to website BoxOfficeMojo.
Despite the prolific success, it is interesting to note that, when adjusted for inflation, the film is still only the third-highest rated Bond movie, behind Goldfinger and Thunderball.
