The rumour of Jurassic Park IV has been circulating for a good few years now. Last we heard the director of time-travelling romcom, Safety Not Guaranteed, Colin Trevorrow, was heading up the project, aiming for a 2014 release.

Well, Trevorrow is still in charge of the dino-pic, but now it is looking that it will be a 2015 release. What’s more, the film will be 3D, making those carnivorous creature all the more terrifying.

2015 is shaping up to be a hot year for big releases, with the first of the Star Wars film from Star Trek helmer, J.J. Abrams providing the first instalment of the new trilogy, and the Amazing Spider-Man 3 scheduled to hit our screens.

In terms of plot little is known or confirmed, although we can expect a return to the Isle Nuba for more dino-action.

The latest trailer for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues sees the gang back together, but times they are a’changing.

There was a time before round-the-clock news, a simpler time, where the men of action-news broadcasting could drink whiskey, munch steak, and then worry about the day’s hottest stories. But that was the 70’s, the next decade was a whole different game.

Today, the new trailer for Anchorman: The Legend Continues hit the web, seeing the ol’ gang back together tackling the challenge of 24-hour news. Ron (Will Ferrell) is back doing what ‘God put him on earth to do,” in the fine company of Brian (Paul Rudd), Champ (David Koechner) and Brick (Steve Carrell). However, change is in the air, and things are about to get shaken up with the addition of Meagan Good and James Marsden.

Talking to another movie website, director Adam McKay stated, “It’s right when all the news started changing with the 24-hours news cycle in ’78 or ’79.” Later adding “All of a sudden, local news stations diversified and had Latino anchors and African-American anchors, and any time you’re talking about diversity and the Action News team, that’s always fun to deal with.”

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues will be gracing UK cinemas on December 20th.

Ben Wheatley is a director that we have come to expect to throw curve balls. Last year he followed up his supernatural hit-man movie Kill List, with the black as pitch comedy Sightseers, and now he is set to switch it up once again with the monochrome, psychedelic Civil War tale, A Field In England.

The film stars, Julian Barrett, Reece Shearsmith, Michael Smiley along with Ryan Pope and Richard Glover. The plot focuses on a group of Civil War deserters, who after fleeing from a battle stumble into a field where they meet an alchemist who encourages them to munch down on magic mushrooms as they pursue a hidden treasure.

On the 5 July, the film will be distributed in cinemas, on DVD and Blu-ray, Freeview and VOD. This is the first UK film to use such a method of distribution.

You can watch the trailer below and enjoy the film in a format of your choice on July 5.

James Franco asks for $500,000 to fund three adaptations of his short stories.

James Franco joins the fray of celebrities asking cinema-goers for their hard earned cash to make movies, but this time it is for charity.

Franco, who graces our screens seemingly every week (that might be something of an exaggeration, but only just), has decided that he wants to turn his short stories in 3 movies, directed by those he admired whilst studying at NYU. The profits of the films are set to go toe Art of Elysium, a charity that aims to “supports first time feature film directors that have been volunteering their time with children in need.”

The project was launched on Indiegogo and will run for 1 month. How much is the purported polymath asking for? To make the three films, Franco is asking for $500,000. To encourage donation he is offering rewards that range from an audio book, read by him of his book, Palo Alto to a VIP dinner and a credit as an executive producer.

Information about the filmmakers Franco selected, the projects and the crowd-sourcing project can be found here.

Steve Carrell talks 3D animation, Minions, parenthood and the pangs of first love in two new videos for Despicabel Me 2.

On the 28 June, Steve Carrell returns to voice the world’s (former) best super-villain Gru, in Universal Pictures, Despicable Me 2.

In the first film, we saw the transformation of the bald and bold arch-villain to full time dad of three loveable daughters. Now that he has hung up his dastardly gizmos and gadgets Gru spends more time frosting birthday cakes and planning parties than creating nefarious schemes. Whilst Gru might have retired, the world is still full of bad guys hatching diabolical schemes. This being the case everybody’s favourite criminal mastermind is recruited by the AVL (Anti-Villain-League) via Lucy Wilde (Kristin Wiig) to put a stop to their wicked machinations.

Hotting up their advertising campaign Universal Pictures have released two videos hosted by Carrell that dive into the despicable world, both of which can be viewed below. The first sees the American comedian explaining the vast amount of work that the animators of the film put in to make the movie happen. The second focuses more on the details of the plot, where we learn Gru’s oldest daughter is suffering from the pangs of first love, but there’s a twist- she has fallen for the son of Gru’s prime suspect in his first case with the AVL.

Watch both the videos below and let us know whether you will be heading out to watch Despicable Me 2 on June 28.

Directors: Pierre Coffin & Chris Renaud

Starring the voices of: Steve Carrell, Kristen Wiig & Ken Jeong

According to certain Hollywood sources, Jack Paglen will now be the the screenwriter for Prometheus 2, replacing Lost’s Damon Lindelof.

Jack Paglen is a new-comer to Hollywood but has already shown strong signs of promises being commissioned to pen Wally Pfister’s directorial debut, Transcendence.

The news broke late last night that Fox, the production company behind Prometheus, was in talks with Paglen, and today it was revealed on Deadline and The Wrap that the young writer in onboard. This news shows signs of hope that the sequel will get off the ground, although this is the third writer to join the project.

Whislt Paglen’s still young career is booming it comes at a price. Namely he is now in charge of crafting a sequel to a film that met with at best mixed reactions and at worst total derision from fans.

Prometheus was Ridley Scott’s return to the universe first seen in Alien (1979). The prequel, which starred Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender took on a much more philosophical tone with a plot that bolding examined mankind’s origins. Whilst the film grossed an impressive $402million, the film success was tremendously tainted by movie-goers reactions.

There is no confirmation as of the moment that Ridley Scott will return to direct the project.

The house of mouse, Disney, has revealed the first clip from their upcoming animated feature, Frozen.

Released on USA Today, the clip showcases the frosty-fellows that will feature in the film including a rather loveable if unlucky, snowman named Olaf (Josh Gad) larking around with Sven (Tom Kane), a playful reindeer.

Today, Sony showed further faith in the Marc Webber Spider-Man reboots with the announcement that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will be released on June 10 2016, followed by the next instalment on May 4th 2016.

Marc Webber is the mind behind the Spidey reboots, casting Andrew Garfield as our webslinging hero alongside Emma Stone as the new love interest, Gwen Stacey. Some were shocked at the initial announcement that Sony would so quickly reboot the films considering Sam Raimi had completed his trilogy just 5 years earlier.

The news sees Sony getting in early, closing down the dates early before rival production companies get in. The choice of May 4th is particularly interesting for 2016, as it can be assumed this date could potentially be a key day for one of the 5 already announced Star Wars films.

Jeff Blake, the chairman of Sony’s worldwide marketing and distribution stated, “Spider-Man is our most important, most successful and most beloved franchise.”

The next instalment, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which stars Garfield, Stone, and Felicity Jones, and is currently in production, will be release in the UK on April 18th 2014.

Below you can view the leaked images from the set on Spider-Man 2, including a rather angry looking Paul Giamatti as super-villain, Rhino.

Film fanatics rejoice! Gary Oldman is set to step behind the camera once again for Flying Horse, a biopic centring around the life of Eadweard Muybridge.

Muybridge was a pioneer of photography and early motion pictures. He was born in England but migrated to the US in the 1860’s where he toured the country showcasing over 100,000 images of animals and humans in motion. Muybridge later gained notoriety after shooting and killing his wife’s lover, the theatre critic Major Harry Larkyns. He was later acquitted of the murder by the jury on grounds of ‘Justifiable Homicide,’ despite the Judge’s protests.

Oldman has been reported as wanting to cast Ralph Fiennes as Muybridge, and Benedict Cummberbatch as Larkyns. The actors have not been confirmed their participation in the project. The film is scheduled to begin shooting next year.

Oldman debut project as a director was the critically acclaimed, Nil My Mouth (1997), which starred Ray Winston and Kathy Burke. He most recently directed a corporately sponsored music documentary, Jack White: Unstaged (2012). Oldman is set next to appear on our screens in the thriller, Paranoia, alongside Harrison Ford.
